Día de los Muertos
Day of the Dead
Día de los Muertos, or Day of the Dead, is a Mexican holiday that celebrates deceased loved ones through a combination of rituals, food, and festivities. The holiday is celebrated from October 31 to November 2, and is a time to remember and honor ancestors, and to remind ourselves that death is a part of life.
The Sioux City Public Museum honors Day of the Dead with a day of celebration, including music, dancing, refreshments, face painting, and children’s crafts. The Museum also hosts an exhibit of Day of the Dead Altars, created by community members and on display October 22-November 2.
