History at High Noon: Sioux City’s Brick Industry

  • Sioux City Public Museum 607 4th Street Sioux City, IA, 51101 United States (map)

Clay beds in the Sioux City area have been used for the making of brick, tile, and pottery since the 1850s. Brickyards dotted the landscape from Riverside to the Floyd River valley and from Leeds to Sergeant Bluff. Their products have been vital to building up the city and the Midwest.

Presented by Tom Munson, Archives Manager, in conjunction with Historic Preservation Week.
