Dia de los Muertos altars are an important tradition celebrated by Mexican people throughout the world. This year’s theme is “Orgulloso hasta los huesos” (Proud to the Bone) with a focus on the skulls, calaveras, and la Catrina found in the altars and Day of the Dead festivities.
Altars created by Morningside University students, Irving Elementary School families and friends of the Museum will be on display.
Often found within homes or public places, Day of the Dead altars are created to honor and welcome deceased loved ones.
For more Day of the Dead activities, visit our Dia de los Muertos or Children & Family Programs page.
