History at High Noon: Powering Sioux City

  • Sioux City Public Museum 607 4th Street Sioux City, IA, 51101 United States (map)

Ever wonder how someone in the Victorian era turned their lights on? Or who made the streetlights work? Ever since 1872 public utility companies have utilized ever-changing technology to provide power for Sioux City homes and businesses. In this photographic presentation, Archival Records Clerk Haley Aguirre will discuss the histories of these power companies, the power plants that they built, and how they worked to meet the energy needs of Sioux Cityans over the years. The unique photographs are from several recently donated albums.
